WELCOMING NEWCOMERS TO TOWN
Moving to a new area, no matter where you are from, can be overwhelming. On top of the usual stresses, associated with re-locating, there is also the need to find out about your new community. The maze of information can be daunting and trying to find people who share your interests can be frustrating.
Bendigo Newcomers Incorporated (A0047140V) is a not for profit organisation which was established during 2004 to assist new residents within the City of Greater Bendigo to welcome, encourage and support new residents who have moved into the Bendigo region.
Bendigo Newcomers is currently seeking financial and in-kind support to assist in the development of its services and resources. “We intend to work closely with businesses, assisting them to support their new employees and families. It is more likely that people will stay in the Bendigo region if they can develop a range of networks and if their skills, talents and life experiences are recognised in the community”, say the founders.
New residents, businesses and community organisations are encouraged to contact Bendigo Newcomers about its proposed activities, volunteer and sponsorship opportunities.
The committee is delighted to announce that a 3 Year Service Agreement has been finalised between Bendigo Newcomers and the City of Greater Bendigo. The agreement takes placefrom 1st July 2009 until 30thJune 2012 with the aim to support Bendigo Newcomers to continuewelcoming, assisting new residents to Bendigo, and linking them toone another and the broader community. We would like to take thisopportunity to sincerely thank the City of Greater Bendigo for their on-going support.
